Carla A. Geer, 78, Johnsonburg


Carla A. Geer, 78, of 501 Second Avenue, Johnsonburg, passed away Thursday evening, January 2, 2025, at Penn Highlands-Dubois following a brief illness. She was born on January 24, 1946, in St. Marys, a daughter to the late Carl and Jane Mann Peters. In June of 1973, she married Harold “Shifty” Geer and he preceded her in death on September 15, 1985.


A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Carla was a 1963 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church and was devoted to bettering the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also especially enjoyed spending time with her Second Avenue Social Group, baking, making candy and visiting each other’s homes on a regular basis. She was also a devoted dog owner over her lifetime and most recently to her dog Piston.


Carla had retired from Sylvania in St. Marys after 27 years of service in 2008 and had also worked in the cafeteria at the Johnsonburg Elementary School for over five years.


Carla is survived by her children; Todd Rosenhoover (Erin) of St. Marys, Michele Bowley of Johnsonburg and Kristin Green (John) of Johnsonburg, her grandchildren; Cody Rosenhoover, Kyle Bowley (Julianne), Kelsey Bowley and friend Zack, Emily Green and Austin Green and her great-grandchildren; Aubriella Rosenhoover, Kinsley Urmann, Bren Rosenhoover, twins Sadee and Stella Bowley, Crue Bowley, Kemri Hulings and Kroy Hulings. She is also survived by sisters Linda Kennedy (Jim) of Johnsonburg, Brenda Nowakowski (Ray) of Avenelle, NJ and Lisa Adamski of Ford City, NJ and several nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husband, Carla is predeceased by brothers John Peters and Joe Adamski.


Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service for Carla A. Geer to be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, on Monday January 6, 2025, at 11 AM with Fr. David Wilson, pastor of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg as celebrant. Interment will be alongside her husband in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.


Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday morning from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM.
