Costanzo Sets New Coyote Record at Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Coyote and Crow Hunt

Paul Costanzo of Ridgway harvested coyote #7 and coyote #8 on Friday and Saturday morning, respectively, to cement a new record for Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide, 10-Day, Coyote and Crow Hunt held every fall, bracketing the Labor Day timeframe. The previous record of seven harvested coyotes was set in 2022 by both Freddy Frey and Steph Conto.

Paul’s Friday morning coyote was harvested on private land in Elk County, and the male coyote weighed 34.0#. Paul’s Saturday morning coyote was also harvested on private land in Elk County, and this male coyote weighed in at 34.4#. Paul shoots a .223 rifle with a thermal scope and usually uses an electronic call.

It is only fitting that the hunter who brought in the first harvested coyote to Rolfe’s Hunt also brought in the last harvested coyote, and set a new record for number of coyotes harvested over the 10-day hunt. Congratulations, Paul!

Hunters are reminded that Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Coyote and Fox Hunt or Trap will take place over two weekends in February 2024
