July Programs At Kinzua Bridge State Park Complex

Kinzua Bridge State Park Complex will offer a variety of programs in the month of July at Kinzua Bridge State Park, Bendigo State Park, and Elk State Park.

Kinzua Bridge State Park:

Saturday, July 27th at 3:00PM to 5:00PM – Butterfly Bonanza – Join us to learn about monarch butterflies and their yearly migration patterns; hear about citizen science opportunities, and what native plants that support their populations! Stop by the pop-up table near the skywalk. Children can complete an easy butterfly craft ring and use it to play a fun migration themed game.

Monday, July 29th and Tuesday, July 30th at 9:00AM to 12:00PM – DiscoverE! (Penn’s Adventurers (9-12 year olds) – Does your young learner have an interest in birding or the environment? Have them participate in our two-day educational experience themed for beginner birders! Through a series of fun games and activities, participants will explore the wonderful world of birds and learn the correct way to use a pair of binoculars. Spots are limited, so pre-registration is required.

Elk State Park:

Sunday, July 28th at 12:00PM to 3:00PM– Kayak Paddle – Meet our DCNR staff at the Instanter Boat Launch at Elk State Park. This is the perfect place to learn the basics of kayaking and water safety before going out for a paddle on the East Branch Clarion River Lake! Hear the history of the area and get the chance to view wildlife around the lake. Participants should be prepared to get wet, and bring along any water, snacks, or sunblock they may need while on the water. Participants must be 12 years of age, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Kayaks, paddles, and PDFs will be provided free of charge. Spots are limited, so participants must pre-register by contacting the park office at (814)778-5467. This event will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
