Kinzua Bridge State Park Complex will offer a variety of programs in the month of April.

Elk State Park:

Saturday, April 6th from 2:00pm to 3:30pm – Step into Spring! – Kick off the season the right way by taking a short & relaxing springtime walk at Elk State Park! Meet our DCNR staff at the beginning of Maple Trail near the Army Corp boat launch. Search for signs of spring and try to find some springtime wildflowers that are emerging! Maple trail is an easy trail with minimal grade, perfect for families and those looking for an easy hike. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, and bring along any water or refreshments they may need.

Bendigo State Park:

Saturday, April 6th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm– Trout Tips! – Fishermen rejoice, its opening day for trout! Come to Bendigo State Park and visit our pop-up table beside Bendigo creek near the pool to learn some facts you may not have known about trout, and ways we can protect and conserve our waterways! Kids can learn how to be a SMART angler!

Kinzua Bridge State Park:

Sunday, April 7th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm – Step into Spring! – Meet our staff at Kinzua Bridge State Park near the entrance to the skywalk for a hike down into the valley on the Kinzua Creek trail. Take in the beautiful scenery while park staff point out springtime flora and fauna, and share stories about the bridge. Participants should prepare for a more difficult hike, and dress for the weather. This event will be postponed in the event of adverse weather conditions.

Saturday, April 13th, and Sunday, April 14th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm – Nature Journaling for World Art Day! – Join our park staff in celebrating World Art Day by learning about Nature Journaling! Meet our staff in the top floor exhibits and classroom in the Kinzua Bridge State Park Visitors’ Center. Participants will begin in the classroom and take a short outdoor walk to practice their nature journaling skills after learning the process.

Saturday, April 27th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm – Binoculars for Beginners! – Meet Park staff near the beginning of the skywalk for this fun outdoor program. Borrow a pair of binoculars, and after a short lesson on how to use them, test your skills out on the skywalk! Play a fun game of binocular bingo to view different animals and landforms you can see from the bridge!

Sunday, April 28th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm – Leave No Trace Trail Walk – Take a walk with our park staff on the General Kane Trail at Kinzua Bridge State Park! Learn the principles of Leave No Trace ethics and put it into practice on the trail. Enjoy the park scenery along the way! General Kane trail is 1.6 miles in length, and relatively flat. Participants are encouraged to bring along any water they may need during the hike.
