Linda Jean Sallows, 71, Kersey

Linda Jean Sallows, 71, of Fox Township, Kersey, gained her angel wings on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Born October 13, 1952, in Pontiac, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Robert Dewey James and Iva Lillian (Guthrie) James. On March 17, 1972, she married Richard “Chongo” Sallows Sr. who survives. They remained life-long partners.

She was raised in Holland, Ohio and Gold Beach / Bend, Oregon.

Linda graduated from Springfield High School in Ohio in 1970.

A member of the Southern Baptist Church in Toledo, OH, she had many jobs that included working in restaurants and housekeeping. She worked in Johnsonburg and in 1984 her free-spirited heart led her to travel the country and establish her second home in Oregon. While in Oregon, Linda worked for Dr. John Rush for 15 years as his property manager and nanny/mom to Travis, Nicole and Dustin Rush of Gold Beach, Oregon. Linda traveled the country and had a free-spirited soul. She moved back to Johnsonburg in 2003 and lived out her life with her family filled with her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her lifelong partner Richard Sallows, Linda is survived by two sons: Richard “Richie” (Elisa) Sallows of Johnsonburg and Charles “Chuckie” (Angela) Sallows of Treasure Lake, DuBois; five grandchildren: Sierra Sallows, Emilio Sallows, Andreas Sallows, Logan Sallows and Aubrie Sallows; ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her siblings: Johnny James, Pamela (Don) DeLand, Deborah (Gary) Munson, David James and Dawn (Clinton) Woodford.

Also surviving is highly important people in her life from Oregon including her soul sisters, Jennifer Wilson and Rita Silva; and Dr. John Rush.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by two brothers: Wayne James and Thomas James; and a sister, Frances James in infancy.

Visitation for Linda Jean Sallows will be held on Friday, February 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home with service to follow.
