Lorraine L. Asti, 76, St. Marys

Updated: 6 days ago

Lorraine L. Asti, 76, of Parkview Road, St. Marys, passed away at her home on Sunday, January 5, 2025, with her family by her side, following a courageous 5-year battle with cancer.

She was born on February 5, 1948 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Cheatle Dietz.

On May 14, 1982, in Ridgway, she married the late Joseph Asti, who preceded her in death on August 14, 2017. Together they shared more than 35 years of love, laughter, and marriage.

Lorraine worked for many years as a loan clerk, always enjoying the friends she made along the way. After retirement from the bank, she worked in the billing department at the hospital. Throughout the years, she loved playing cards with her friends and could often be found curled up with a good book. She loved a good shopping trip with her sister-in-law, Gloria, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of friendship. When she wasn't working in the yard and tending to her flowers and lawn, she was busy decorating her home for every holiday, always enjoying transforming her home for the season. She had a great love for her pet poodles, Minnie and Pippin, her faithful companions always at her side. A kind, loving, and graceful lady, Lorraine adored her family, especially her nephews and their families, whom she was like a second mother to. She attended all their life events and was a constant source of love and support to them.

She is survived by two brothers; Kenneth Dietz and his wife Gloria, and James Dietz, both of St. Marys. She is also survived by her two beloved nephews and their families; Jeffrey (Shelby) Dietz and Nathaniel Dietz, both of St. Marys, and by her cherished great-niece and nephews; Jaxton, Dominic, and Alaina.

Funeral and Committal Services are being held privately with the family.

Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Weedville.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society or to the Penn Highlands Elk Community Nurses Hospice.
