Mary Lou Seelye, 91, St. Marys


Mary Lou Seelye, 91, of S. Michael Road, St. Marys, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Penn Highlands Elk following a brief illness.


She was born on August 5, 1933 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Urban and Leah Henry Wehler.


Mary Lou was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School. class of 1951. She was a faithful member of the Queen of the World Church, where she was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society. Mary Lou worked for many years at the Trout Run and Pure Lodges, and enjoyed the many friendships she formed over the years. A talented seamstress, she knitted beautiful afgans, and always enjoyed needlepoint as well. Throughout her home were her many photographs of her family, photos she enjoyed collecting and was proud to display. An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, she could often be found cheering on her favorite sports teams. A devoted mother and grandmother who was always on the sidelines cheering on her kids and grandkids during their high school years, Mary Lou enjoyed her family immensely and loved spending time with them.


Mary Lou is survived by six children; Donald "Rail" Seelye of St. Marys, Alan "Bird" (Mary Kay) Seelye of St. Marys, Susan Seelye of St. Marys, Larry (Lorraine) Seelye of Millvale, Jack (Diane) Seelye of St. Marys, and Lynne (Dave) Riccadonna of Weedville; and by 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law; Jean Wehler of Sheffield Village, OH, Phyllis Bricen, and Joyce Leviski, both of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law; Gloria Seelye, by three brothers; Urbie Wehler, Kenny Wehler, and Bob “Rabbits” Wehler, and by a sister; Joyce Vogt.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou Seelye will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA with Fr. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as celebrant.


Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.


There will be no public visitation.


Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fr. Eric Vogt Memorial Fund.
