Michael A. Pura, 77, Johnsonburg


Michael A. Pura, 77, of 219 Powers Ave., Johnsonburg, passed away late Wednesday evening, March 5, 2025, at Penn Highlands-DuBois following a lengthy illness. He was born March 16, 1947 in Ridgway, a son to the late Michael and Clara Lovas Pura. On June 1, 1968, in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Carol A. Dunworth, and she survives.


A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Mike was a 1965 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School. He attended Williamsport Area Community College where he received a degree in Tool & Die Technology. He also studied with and joined the Local Bricklayers Union 24 and became a union bricklayer where he worked for several years. Mike then ran his own company, Quality Masonry, Inc. for 10 years, and has owned and operated Waterproofing Specialties, Inc. for the past 30 years.


Mike is a member of Holy Rosary Church, Central Hose Co. and the Ridgway Moose. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved to spend time with his family, especially at the camp. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time outdoors. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.


Mike is survived by his wife Carol at home, his children, David Pura (Julie) of Ridgway, Creg Pura (Lauren) of Wilcox, Kirstie Pura of Brooklyn, NY and Matthew Pura and his husband Jay Wilson of Philadelphia and his grandchildren, Elise, Aaron and Ivan Pura and Carson and Cooper Pura.


He is predeceased by his parents.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael A. Pura will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, on Monday March 10, 2025, at 10 AM with Fr. David Wilson, Pastor as Celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg Sunday evening from 5 to 8 PM.
