Our mother, Nancy L. Engelberg sadly passed away on Thursday, September 26th, 2024. She was an amazing mother, wife, sister, nana, and friend.
She was born in St. Marys to Clarence and Catherine Wildnauer Distler on January 10, 1945. She attended Central Catholic where she graduated in 1962. During her life, Nancy was employed at Keystone Carbon Company, Northwest Savings Bank and Advanced Thermal Products.
On October 15, 1966 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nancy married the love of her life, Siegfried J. Engelberg, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2017. Together they had two daughters, Mary (Anthony) Mattivi and Amy (Gary) Dietz. She had 5 grandchildren who adored her, Casey and Abby Mattivi and Josh (Marysia), Jonathan and Michael Dietz.
In addition to her husband and parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Distler and Walter Distler; sisters-in-law, Gerta Squires and Hilda Walker; and two nephews, Todd Distler and Rick Stauffer.
She leaves behind her daughters and their families along with her sister, Carol (Lee) Stauffer; sisters-in-law, Carol Distler and Kay Distler; brothers-in-law, Martin (Judy) Engelberg and Peter (Rita) Engelberg; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who she loved very much.
She was always there when anyone needed her, offering support, wisdom and love in abundance. She touched the lives of all who knew her. She had many friends and they encompassed all aspects of her life, and each was special to her. From phone call chats to joint family outings, to sharing informal and formal meals and entertaining, to class reunions, and adventures near and far. Nancy loved spending time with her friends.
To commemorate her life and to celebrate the love she so easily shared with everyone who met her, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00AM with Rev. Justin Pino, celebrating. Visitation will be held in Queen of the World Church from 10:00AM until the time of service. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering her. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
