Perhaps the most surprising commodity coming out of the recycling center is film plastic. When we made the decision to add film plastic to our list of acceptable items in mid-2021, we guessed it would take us upwards of a year to even get a measurable amount. I mean, really, it takes a zillion plastic bags to even weigh anything. But we were wrong. We recycled 17.4 tons of film plastic last year. We continue to be amazed. More and more residents are dropping off bags and other packing material, we are getting shrink wrap from a number of businesses (we would be happy to get more!!!), and we are getting film from Elk County Foods as well as the TREX program spearheaded by the Johnsonburg Community Trust. It all adds up. Keep it coming.
