Penn Highlands Healthcare has contracted with J.E.T. Response EMS and Medical Transport for assistance with non-911 transportation needs from a Penn Highlands Healthcare location to another hospital/senior facility. The transportation partnership will enhance patient care, improve timely patient transports and reduce hours a patient waits in our emergency departments for admission.
EMS memberships and specific EMS provider requests by patients will be honored first, if available and there isn't a critical circumstance where someone’s survival is at risk. If a patient doesn’t have an EMS provider preference, the Penn Highlands Transfer Center will utilize Penn Highlands Clearfield EMS and J.E.T. Response EMS.
“There have been many situations where patients had to be held in one of our emergency departments or critical care units because we could not find an EMS provider that was available,” said Trina Johnson, DO, MBA, System Chief Medical Officer, Penn Highlands Healthcare. “The partnership with J.E.T. Response EMS will help ensure that we have timely transportation services available.”
It is important to note, this only applies to interfacility transfers from Penn Highlands Healthcare hospitals/senior facilities and in some cases to non-Penn Highlands locations. If a local resident is experiencing a medical emergency, they should call 911.
