With the upcoming change to 50% capacity for outside venues, Thursday night the Ridgway Fire Department Board of Directors voted to proceed with a modified 2021 carnival beginning July 5th and running though the 10th. As things are scheduled right now, Powers and Thomas midway will be back in town with rides running Tuesday night through and including Saturday night.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, the Ridgway Fire Department intends to follow all Pennsylvania Department of Health and CDC guidelines and protocols. We had a capacity analysis completed for the Carnival Lot and so long as the current 50% occupancy rate remains in place or increases, we can proceed based on Pennsylvania’s current directive.
Some of the modifications to this year’s event will include but are not limited to the following:
· Masks will be required.
· Social distancing and proper spacing will be required while waiting in line for food and/or rides and while playing games.
· Additional had wash stations will be provided.
· There will be no main ticket this year (the Saturday night $10,000 ticket). There will be nightly drawings along with a series of series of 50-50 drawings.
As plans continue to evolve, The Ridgway Fire Department will provide updates in the media and on our Facebook page.
We are currently working to get the advanced ride tickets on sale and will let the public know when and where they can be purchased. We are also currently reviewing what all we can offer this year and what will have to wait.
The Ridgway Fire Department would like nothing more than to be able to host this year’s carnival without COVID-19 related modifications. However, we feel, and we believe the community will agree, that being able to offer a modified event this year is a much better option than cancelling the event for a second consecutive year.
