The Ridgway Public Library, in collaboration with the Tricounty Rails To Trails, is pleased to announce the creation of the Ridgway Public Library Story Walk, beginning October 2024.
A Story Walk is an interactive reading experience for families. This permanent installation will feature 18 stops all within the first mile of the Clarion-Little Toby Creek Trail. Like the landscape and weather, the books will change seasonally so there is always a new story to explore.
RPL will be hosting a grand unveiling of the RPL Story Walk on Saturday, October 12 at 11AM. Each family in attendance will receive a free book. The unveiling will also include a Family Story Time with our children’s librarian, Miss Tia. Children will read and walk with Miss Tia to hear our first story — “Tidy” by Emily Gravett — and then make nature journals to help commemorate the event.
The Story Walk and this accompanying event is made possible by our partnership with the Tricounty Rails to Trails Association and thanks to our sponsors, Elk County Council on the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and the Elk County Community Foundation.
The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
