Wayne G. Schauer, 87, St. Marys

Wayne G. Schauer, 87, a resident of Silver Creek Terrace and formerly of Fern Lane, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024.


He was born on July 14, 1937 in St. Marys, a son of the late Wilfred and Marcella Lecker Schauer.


On July 8, 1961, in Queen of the World Church, he married Aletha Harrison Schauer. Together they shared more than 63 years of marriage.


Wayne was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School and attended Penn State University in DuBois. He served 6 years in the United States Army Reserves.


Wayne retired from Keystone Powdered Metal Products after more than 40 years of service. He was also employed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission as a Deputy Waterways Conservation Officer. Wayne also worked for many years as a construction and remodeling mechanic.


A true outdoorsman, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He could also be found taking photographs and greatly enjoyed traveling. He was known for keeping a meticulous lawn and garden. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren, whom he adored.


Wayne was a member of the Queen of the World Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Camp Owners Association and the American Legion. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club, North American Fishing Club, and a dedicated member of the NRA.


In addition to his wife, Aletha, he is survived by three children; Cynthia (Joseph) Labant of St. Marys, Kevin (Mary Ann Ault) Schauer, of South Park, PA, and Glenn (Bonnie) Schauer, of DuBois; and by his four beloved grandchildren; Christine Schauer, Adam Schauer, Jenna (Gage) Melusky, Steven (Skylar Yanochko) Labant.


In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one brother; Robert Schauer.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Wayne G. Schauer will be celebrated on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as celebrant.


Family and friends will be received at the Queen of the World Church on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 9:30 AM until the time of mass.


Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Burial Detail.


Burial will be in the Morningside Cemetery.


Memorial Contributions may be made to the Queen of the World Church or to Penn Highlands Community Nurses.
