Over 200 DUI Arrest Made During Checkpoints
State police released the results of their 2025 Christmas holiday checkpoint enforcement that resulted in over 200 DUI arrests. The Pennsylvania State Police reported that they investigated 1,007 vehicle crashes during the holiday weekend from December 24 and 28. Police say six people died in the crashes, and 53 non-fatal crashes involved a driver under the influence. Troopers arrested 207 people for driving under the influence.

State police in Emporium reported conducting a traffic stop on West 4th Street After investigation the operator, a known 32-year-old man from Port Allegany was in possession of untaxed cigarettes. Charges are pending.

State police in Emporium reported conducting a traffic stop on East 4th Street. After investigation it was determined the operator was driving under the influence. Charges are pending a blood test.


Mailboxes And Sign Damaged After Traffic Accident On Meadow Road In Emporium
State police investigated a one-vehicle accident on Meadow Road in Emporium. According to police, a vehicle driven by Paul Burgett, 60, of Emporium left the roadway and struck two mailboxes and speed limit sign. The vehicle continued and also struck a second speed limit sign. Passerby Able To Remove Two People From Vehicle On Gardner Hill Seconds Before The Vehicle Became Engulfed In Flames
State police investigated an accident on Gardner Hill. According to police a vehicle driven by Richard Hedlund, 85, of Weedville, was traveling west on Gardner Hill Road when for unknown reasons the driver failed to properly negotiate a slight right-hand turn. State police investigated a one-vehicle accident on Sizerville Road. According to police, Tiffany Conerby, of Emporium, was traveling south when her vehicle left the road and struck a shrub, then continued a short distance and struck a culvert. Driver Injured In Weather Related Accident In Highland Township
State police report that a known 65-year-old man from Cowansville, Pa., was injured in a one-vehicle accident in Highland Township. Jeffrey Toy was traveling west on a snow-covered road when his vehicle left the west bound shoulder and into a ditch. The vehicle continued west bound and then rolled over onto the passenger side. The driver suffered minor injuries.


Benezette Man Escapes Injury In Accident On East 4th Street In Emporium
State police report investigating an accident on East 4th Street in Emporium. Aidan Hoffman, 21, of Benezette, was traveling west plowing snow too closely to a second vehicle. The Hoffman vehicle continued traveling west and did not notice the 2nd vehicle was unoccupied and legally parked. The vehicle sustained minor damage.


One Person Injured In Accident On Old Wilcox Road
State police investigated an accident on Old Wilcox Road, near Klondike Road. According to police, a vehicle driven by John McMahon, 78, of Johnsonburg was attempting to pull out of the Elk County Foods Parking lot and travel south on Route 219. As McMahon was exiting the parking lot, he failed to yield to a tractor trailer who was traveling south.
