City police investigated a domestic incident on the Johnsonburg Road. After investigation, police arrested Slate Jerome Curtis, 26, of Johnsonburg and charged him with terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.
City police in St. Marys responded t a report of a female trespassing and loitering outside of the residence in the early hours of May 16th, 2026. Police identified the woman as Kristin LynnMertz, 32, and subsequently placed her under arrest for trespassing, loitering and prowling. Th woman was arraigned and committed to Elk County Prison. Bail was set at $50,000.
Cameron County Chamber of Commerce announced the location for the fireworks which will light up the sky on Friday July 3 and the start of fundraising. They will be launched from a private property on Tannery Heights. Fundraising will begin May 29 with a $3 lunch hot dog sale at Emporium Food Market. City Police were called to Memorial Park after a complaint of a group of juveniles shouting vulgar and disparaging language which caused alarm to others in the area. Officers located the group of juveniles and spoke to them for some time and determined a warning for their actions was appropriate.

State Police investigated a Three-Vehicle Accident on the Ridgway-St. Marys Road. Police report that Amy Redfoot, 45, of Ridgway and Cassandra Covac, 25, of Ridgway, were both stopped on the road due to construction. Brianna Gravely, 29 of Ridgway failed to notice both vehicles and struck the Redfoot vehicle, which then struck the Covac Vehicle. No Injuries were reported.
A Pennsylvania law banning the use of handheld devices while driving has been in effect since last June, with violators being issued warnings. Starting June 6, violators will instead face fines. Paul Miller’s Law limits the use of handheld cellphones or other communication devices while operating a motor vehicle. On Sunday, May 24, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will host a Fish for Free day to allow anyone (resident or non-resident) to legally fish on all Pennsylvania waterways. No license is required, but all other fishing regulations still apply. This is the first of two dates set by the PFBC to enhance fishing opportunities. The next day is Independence Day, Saturday, July 4. This is a great way to expose the next generation of anglers to the outdoors.
