With a measles outbreak in a county in Pennsylvania, health experts want to send a message to families. Elk County Women Accused of Trafficking Meth
Three Elk County women are facing multiple charges after an investigation allegedly revealed a drug supplying operation. In August of 2025, police launched an investigation into 51 year-old Rachel Miller of Ridgway for supplying methamphetamines. Another woman, 28 year-old Hailey Shrefler of St Marys, allegedly told police that she rented vehicles for Anderson to use, with no knowledge that they were used for drugs. Michael A. Palamarchuck, 77, Emporium
Michael A. Palamarchuck, 77, of Emporium, PA, passed away at his residence on Sunday afternoon (February 8, 2026). He was born on June 19, 1948, in St. Marys, PA, a son of the late Paul and Lydia Sidelinger Palamarchuck. Mike was a graduate of Cameron County High School and Lock Haven University, and furthered his education by receiving his Master's degree from Ithaca College. He served proudly as a Navy Corpsman before dedicating more than 30 years to education and athletics


Elk County Church Opposes Plan For Trash Train Line In Horton Township
A landfill owner in Elk County is seeking federal approval to build a trash train rail line through a local township. The proposed line would run through Horton Township and allow out-of-state trash to be shipped by train to the Greentree Landfill in Fox Township. One-Vehicle Accident In Millstone Township
State police investigated a one-vehicle accident in Millstone Township. Police report that Terry Hertzog, 65, of Ridgway, was traveling east and while attempting to make a left curve in the road, the vehicle began to slide on the ice, traveled off the road and struck a tree. No injuries were reported.


Think Spring! Trout Stocking Schedule Available
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced its 2026 trout stocking schedule is now available online and on the FishBoatPA mobile app. The PFBC will stock approximately 3.2 million adult trout in 684 streams and 130 lakes open to public angling. Stocking is set to begin the week of Feb. 16 in advance of the statewide Mentored Youth Trout Day on Saturday, March 28, and the statewide opening day of trout season on Saturday, April 4. Governor’s Proposed $53.26 Billion Budget
The 2026-27 state budget process got underway this week when Gov. Josh Shapiro delivered his budget address before a joint session of the General Assembly on Tuesday. The governor’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year totals $53.26 billion. That is an increase of $2.72 billion, or 5.4%, over last year.
