State Police Crack Down On Cell Phone Use While Driving
State Police are cracking down on cell phone use while driving. Just days after the June 6th warning period ended for Paul Miller’s Law, troopers issued 694 citations and 308 warnings during a three day “Operation Hands Off“ period. The law now carries a $50 dollar fine, plus court costs and fees, for using a handheld device while driving, even when stopped. These numbers only reflect what State Police have recorded and not your local police department’s enforcement.


NPRC Hosting Golf Scramble in St. Marys September 24th

Nittany MinitMart held their Grand Opening on Thursday at their new Emporium Location. The store was welcomed by the entire community since the Sheetz store left a void with their closing. The River 98.9 visited with staff during the Grand Opening.


Bruce N. Stuckey, Sr., 76, Emporium
Bruce N. Stuckey, Sr., 76, of Emporium, PA, passed away peacefully at his residence in Emporium on Thursday morning, June 18, 2026. Born September 25, 1949, in Jamestown, New York, he was the son of the late Raymond and Alma Weaver Stuckey. He was married to the late Mary Smith Stuckey, who preceded him in death. Bruce attended Canoga High School in Canoga, California. He retired from GKN Powder Metals, where he had been employed for many years. Bruce enjoyed fishing, hunting

Council Recognizes Outgoing City Manger, Joe Fleming
St. Marys Mayor, Lyle Garner, presents outgoing City Manager, Joe Fleming, with a plaque of appreciation for his time serving as City Manager for the City of St. Marys. Fleming officially resigned on Monday and will begin his new post as City Manager for Dubois. Joe has served as City Manager since May, 2021.

Benzinger Park Footbridge Closed
The footbridge located in the wooded area of Benzinger Park off Fleming Road has been closed due to safety concerns and is closed until further notice. The City of St. Marys Department of Parks & Recreation is actively working on a replacement and evaluating long-term solutions for the bridge. For your safety, please do not cross the bridge or bypass any barricades or closure signs.
