Last week, Senator Dush recognized several members of the Cameron-Elk Suicide Prevention Task Force for being awarded the 2025 Rural Health Community Program of the Year Award.
More specifically, the task force is being honored by the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health for creatively educating high-risk communities about the 988 lifeline, reducing stigma, saving lives, and transforming mental health awareness throughout Cameron and Elk counties.
The group was recognized during legislative session in the House of Representatives on Monday, and Rep. Mike Armanini and I were honored to present them with a House citation in recognition of their award and great work. Pictured with me, from left, are Mike Gwin, community relations coordinator at Community Care Behavioral Health; James Moate, Cameron County commissioner; Chi Catalone, Penn State Extension educator; Sierra Himes, director of children’s prevention and assessment services at Dickinson Center; Olivia Luzier, community engagement and partnership coordinator with the VA Medical Center; and Rep. Armanini.
