PA House Archives Celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives Archives is getting in on the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration with the opening of a new exhibit titled “Keystone of America.” The exhibit explores the 1826, 1876, 1926, and 1976 celebrations and Pennsylvania’s role in each of the anniversaries. Trial Date Set For Former Dubois City Manager And Former City Employee
A trial date has been set for the former DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio and former city employee Roberta “Bobbie” Shaffer. According to court documents, the trial will begin on June 1, 2026. Suplizio and Shaffer are accused of stealing around $1.5 million dollars between 2008 and 2022.

Brady Nussbaum and Reese Ehrensberger, predator hunters from St Marys, combined to bring in four predators to Rolfe’s weigh station on Sunday, 2/15. Reese started off their success by calling in an 8.8# female red fox on Friday at 11:00 pm just outside of the City of St. Marys. Reese continued his successful shooting on Saturday near 2:00 a.m. with the harvest of another red fox, this time a male, weighing in at 9.4#. This red fox was harvested on another piece of private

Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency Accepting Grow PA Grant Applications
The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) is now accepting Grow PA Grant Program applications for the 2026-27 school year. Established by Act 89 of 2024, Grow PA is designed to address Pennsylvania’s declining workforce and the need to fill certain in-demand occupations. The maximum award is $5,000 for qualified students and may be received for a maximum of four years.

Update On ATV Trail At Monday's City Council Meeting (VIDEO)
During this month's City Council Meeting, Cheryl Ruffner, from Elk County Riders, provided council with an update on an ATV Trail. Ruffner reported that Jay Township Granted permission for Elk County Riders to move forward with the trail around Byrnedale Park and to construct a bridge over Kersey Run. Watch Meeting Below


Emporium Woman Involved In Accident In Sweden Township
State police investigated a one-vehicle accident in Sweden Township. Police report that Holly Lewis, 48, of Emporium, was traveling east on Route 6 and while attempting to overtake a vehicle, she lost control on the snow-covered roadway. The vehicle crossed the westbound lane and struck a snowbank. Lewis was not injured.


Emporium Teen Involved In Accident In Keating Township
State police investigated an accident in Keating Township. According to police a known 16-year-old female from Emporium was traveling in the northbound lane while another vehicle, operated by Bradley Karr, 56, of Coudersport, was traveling in the southbound lane. Police report the teen was attempting to negotiate a righthand curve and lost control before traveling into the opposite lane and struck the Karr vehicle head on. Police said the teen was not injured


Foxes are First Predators to Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Coyote and Fox Hunt or Trap
Paul Costanzo brought the first predator to Rolfe’s weigh station on Friday, 2/13, a 6.8# female red fox. Paul was hunting the Johnsonburg area of Elk County Friday morning and was able to harvest this fox on private land. Paul usually shoots a .223 rifle with a thermal scope. Josh Bizzak of Wilcox brought in a beautiful red fox, Saturday, to the weigh station. This female red fox weighed in at 8.8#. .: Joe Fremer, predator hunter from Brockway, brought the first two coyotes to Rolfe’s weigh station on Sunday, 2/15. “I was spotting with a thermal scope Saturday morning near the Jefferson/Clearfield County line when the coyotes came out. I was able to harvest one of them at about 3:20 a.m. but the other coyote took off. I kept waiting and near 4:00 a.m. the second coyote came out into the field.” Joe was hunting private land.
