Businesses and organizations in Cameron County preparing for Christmas in the Wilds December 5 and 6. Cameron County Chamber of Commerce executive director Tina Solak says this weekend of events will bring smiles to the youngest and oldest! “It is hard to pick the one event that brings the most joy,” says Solak. Friday night you have the parade, followed by the tree lighting, and on Saturday Santa comes to town with his reindeer to enjoy breakfast and heads to his favorite Cameron County location, which is Sarah Jane’s A Christmas Time.

Vendors, restaurants and stores in Emporium will have special hours Friday night December 5. From 4-8pm you can pick up cookie trays, bring your pet for pictures with the Grinch, support organizations and businesses. The Alcohol Drug Abuse Services Recovery Center and Emporium Senior Center will host vendors, pet photos and a soup sale, while the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library will have a book sale and sell Sloppy Joes. The Emporium Volunteer Fire Department and Cameron County Chamber of Commerce hosting basket raffles. The parade steps off at 6:30pm Friday with the judges stand on East Fourth Street across from Pizza Palace Plus. At 8pm the tree will be lit.

Saturday Santa arrives at the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department with his live reindeer. Breakfast will be served from 9-11am. At 11am Santa’s favorite elf will read stories to children at Sarah Jane’s Art Studio aka A Christmas Time. Also on Saturday the Christmas Scavenger Hunt locations will be announced at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce at 10am. The Cameron County Quarterback Club will announce basket winners Saturday afternoon, while the Community Dance will draw winners during its event at the VFW Saturday night.

“Last weekend businesses were packed with shoppers and the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department Craft Show brought more than 30 vendors to the county,” Solak said. Throughout this week and concluding on Saturday shoppers are encouraged to spend at least $100 filling out the Shop Small card. When it is filled, drop it off at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce. On Saturday at 1pm a drawing will be held for up to $300 in chamber bucks.

Many more activities are planned for the remainder of December including Wreath Across America ceremonies, Sinnemahoning Sportsman Club Children’s Christmas and events with Santa each weekend at Sarah Jane’s.
