Crusaders Are D-9 Champions With 50-44 Win Over Johnsonburg

Elk County Catholic captured the D9 title with a 50-44 win over the Johnsonburg Rams.
Jack Breindel led the way for Elk County Catholic with 19 points, followed by 11 from Simbeck, and six each from Smith, Gilmore, and Wasko.
For the Rams, Calla led the way after being shut down in the first half with 16 points, 14 of them coming in the second half. Johnsonburg also got nine points out of Schrieber, and eight from Jonah King.
Both teams will advance and host first-round PIAA games on Friday, March 6.
ECC will take on WPIAL third-place finisher, Monessen, while Johnsonburg will play District 10 runner-up West Middlesex.
