Darlene S. Sherry, 73, of Sinnemahoning, PA passed away following a brief illness with pancreatic cancer at Penn Highlands DuBois on Sunday (June 1, 2025) afternoon with her family by her side.
She was born April 3, 1952, in Sinnemahoning, PA a daughter of the late Alvy and Reva Fiscus Johnson.
Darlene, Leenie to those close to her, loved to be out and about meeting people and making new friends. Her family always held a special place in her heart, especially her grandchildren and great grandchild. You may remember Darlene working at Flowers 'N Things where she developed her love to arrange flowers. She also worked at Motor Coil and was an EMT for both Sinnemahoning and Emporium ambulance for many years. Her longtime partner Ted was Cameron County coroner for many years which eventually led to Darlene becoming deputy coroner. She loved going to the coroner convention where she made many friends. Darlene enjoyed doing crafts and sudoku puzzles in her spare time. In the fall, along with her twin sister she would make, what some would call, the world's best pumpkin rolls. Darlene had fond memories of Sinnemahoning and recently returned to live there.
Darlene is survived by her longtime companion, Ted Walters; son, Donald Sherry Jr. (Christine), Corning, NY; two grandchildren: Nathan Sherry (Zoё) and Samantha Bennitt (Alex); a great grandson, Miller Bennitt; twin sister, Marlene Zimmer (Charlie), Emporium; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Richard Johnson.
The family will receive friends at the Sinnemahoning United Methodist Church, Route 120 Sinnemahoning, PA on Friday (June 13, 2025) from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, officiating.
Burial will be in the Gilmore Cemetery, Austin, PA. at a later date.
