Doris J. “Grunny” Dempsey, 86, Weedville

Doris J. “Grunny” Dempsey, age 86, of Plum Street, Weedville, PA, died peacefully, April 29, 2026 at Pinecrest Manor of St. Marys. She was born on January 26, 1940 in Benezette, PA.

Doris is survived by three children, Jack Dempsey of Emporium, Jaime Filer of Weedville and Sherry Gleason of Alleghany, NY; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a brother Jake Ellenberger.

Along with her parents and her husband, Irvin Dempsey, Jr., Doris was preceded in death by two daughters, Cindy and Brenda Dempsey; a son, Tracy Dempsey; and two brothers, Rod and Ray Ellenberger.

Doris was born and raised in Benezette, lived fifty six years in Driftwood and the past fourteen years in Weedville. During her many years in Driftwood, she enjoyed spending her time babysitting many local children. She was a member of the Driftwood Senior Center and enjoyed spending time there, even after her move to Weedville.

There will be no visitation and no services.
