Edward A. Lodes, 91, St. Marys

Edward A. Lodes, 91, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of N. Michael Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Friday, March 6, 2026 at Penn Highlands Elk following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was born July 26, 1934, in St. Marys, son of the late Edward and Catherine Fritz Lodes. He was a lifelong resident of the area and formerly employed at Stackpole Carbon Company.

Ed is survived by a brother, Kenneth Lodes of St. Marys and a sister-in-law, Shirley Lodes of St. Marys. He is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews, particularly, his niece, Barbie Simbeck (Ira) of Kersey, who took great care of Ed for many years.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by four sisters: Genevieve “Jane” Curci, Gertrude Martin, Eileen Lucanik, and Kay Brennen; and two brothers: Paul “Joe” Lodes and James Lodes.

Ed was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Church where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of the CMF, PFL, American Legion, and was proud of his life membership at the St. Marys Moose Lodge #146. Ed found joy in the simple things that life had to offer, especially his daily drives around town to visit family and to stop in to sign the books at the local clubs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 12:00PM. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home, 169 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 10:30AM until 11:30AM.
