The grand opening of the Elk Haven Memory Care Unit will be held on Wednesday, May 14th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The grand opening is open to the public.


Secure Memory Care Unit

This secure memory care unit is not yet open. We are celebrating the anticipated grand opening of this unit on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.


Elk Haven Nursing Home offers a dedicated memory care unit with long-term, short-term and respite care that provides compassionate, caring and a secure home-like environment. The memory care unit specializes in treating individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss and other related dementias.


The program stresses the importance of improving and maintaining the quality of life for its residents.


The memory care neighborhood offers:


16-bed secure memory care unit

Fully licensed dementia-certified staff

WanderGuard anti-wandering system

Decor, furniture and amenities are designed to help residents feel safe and secure

Assistance with activities of daily living, including dressing and grooming

Meaningful activity programs designed to stimulate the sensesIndividualized care plans

Outdoor patios to foster independence in a secure setting

Physical exercise programs designed to build strength

Social activities to promote physical, intellectual and spiritual wellness

Elk Haven’s memory care neighborhood provides many services to help residents feel comfortable and at ease in new surroundings. Moving into a memory care community can be frightening at first. We encourage families to tour before deciding so they can help ease the transition for their loved ones should they entrust their care with us.


Memory Care Unit Admission Information


Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, memory loss or other related dementias

Individual is actively exit seeking

Individual must be ambulatory, or able to use a wheelchair and transfer with one/two person assistance


A pre-admission screening visit may be made by a representative of the community for the purpose of screening for cognitive level and gathering pertinent information. If this is not possible, this assessment will be made at the time of admission. During the pre-admission process, the resident representative and the resident will be made aware of the unit’s philosophy of care.


Criteria which may not qualify for admission:


Individuals with chronic or severe aggression

Individuals with a history of harm to self or others

Individuals with a behavioral or psychiatric disorder
