Eugene J. “Shady” Heser, 98, of 441 Dippold Avenue, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
He was born April 20, 1927, in Kersey, son of the late John and Cunigunda Hau Heser. He was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1945 and then studied at Williamsport Technical Institute. He was employed at Stackpole Carbon Company where he retired in 1987, after thirty-seven years with the company.
On August 25, 1951, in St. Joseph’s Church, in Force, he married the late Irene L. Uberti, who preceded him in death on February 17, 2002. He later found a special friend in Juanita Blare of DuBois, who survives.
Also surviving are his caring neighbors, Jimmy and Missy Miller, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Irene Gerg, Rita Halquist, Mary Thompson, and Margaret Stauffer; and two brothers: Bernie Heser and Edward Heser. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Shady was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country during World War II. He was a man that liked to stay busy. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening but he really looked forward to playing cards with his friends.
There will be no visitation.
Family and Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11:00AM. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
