Garnet A. Berger, 85, Johnsonburg

Garnet A. Berger, 85, of 3626 Long Level Road, Johnsonburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 18, 2026, at Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 28, 1940, in Ridgway, a daughter to the late Darrell E. and Betty Steudler Jones. On January 2, 1959, in the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church, she married John E. Berger. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1997.

A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Garnet was a 1958 graduate of Johnsonburg High School and a member of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church. Garnet loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to solve crossword puzzles and read romance novels.

Garnet had worked at Lyn-Clare Flower shop for several years and at the Johnsonburg Market Basket for several years.

Garnet is survived by her children, Darrell Berger of Johnsonburg, Jeff Berger (Shirley) of Johnsonburg, Todd Berger of Johnsonburg, Kathy Colburn (Bruce) of Jamestown, NY and Barbie Berger (Phil Elmquist) of Johnsonburg and 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Wesley Jones (Elizabeth “Liz”) of Dover, DE.

In addition to her parents and husband, Garnet is predeceased by a brother Jerry Jones.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service for Garnet A. Berger to be conducted at the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church on Monday March 23, 2026, at 11 AM with Pastor James Hurst as celebrant. Interment will be in Wardvale Methodist Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
