Gary W. Carlson, 83, Ridgway


Gary W. Carlson, 83, of Ridgway, and formerly of Kersey, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025 at his residence.


He was born on June 10, 1941, in Brockport, a son of the late John W. and Emma "Faye" Bloom Carlson.


On January 20, 1961, in St. Tobias Church, Gary married the late Madolyn Joy Marchiori, who preceded him in death on February 6, 1997.


On May 8, 1999, in St. Boniface Church, He married the late Sandra Lee Copelli, who preceded him in death on February 15, 2019.


Gary was a member of St. Boniface church in Kersey, and retired from Brockway Pressed Metals after many years of service as a 3rd shift supervisor. He also founded Helpmates Inc. of Ridgway alongside his wife Joy. Gary was a collector of many things, but he was most proud of his collection of Frank Tea and Spice Co. Jumbo peanut butter jars. After years of amassing his jar collection he sold them to a museum in St. Thomas, Ontario where they were put on display. Gary also adored his dogs, who would accompany him almost everywhere.


Gary is survived by 4 children; G. Scott (Debra) Carlson of Dubois, Dawn (Rod) Foringer of Ridgway, Darren V. (Gwen) Carlson of Brockway, and Kristan Carlson of Ridgway, and by 4 step-children; Jacqueline (Tom) Lenox of Kersey, Brenda (Dan) Moore of Brookville, John Copelli Jr. of Brockport, and Gregory (Bonnie) Copelli of Kersey, by 11 grandchildren; Jessica, Dylan, Madolyn, Rachel, Laken, Jordan, Justin, Jenna, Johnny, Gregory, and Andria, as well as by several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers; James Carlson of New York, and Danny (Jackie) Carlson of Uniontown, by a sister; Donna Bucheit of New York, and by his dog Abby.


In addition to his parents and his wives, Gary was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Bill Carlson, and John "Jack" Carlson, and by 2 dogs; Chonda and Kole.


At Gary's request no services are being held.
