James L. Betta, 83, Weedville

James L. Betta, age 83 of East Teaberry Street, Weedville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 with his family by his side. Born June 30, 1943 in DuBois, he was the son of the late James E. and Freda (Johnson) Betta.
He was a 1961 graduate of Bennetts Valley High School and a 1963 graduate of DuBois Business College.
On August 2, 1969 at the St. Marys Catholic Church, Jim married Barbara (Hannibal) Betta who survives. They were blessed to share 57 years of love, laughter, and hard work together.
He was an employee of PennDot, retiring in 2003. He and his wife were owners and operators of Betta Christmas Tree Farm from 1984 to 2004.
In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by his 3 children, Lisa (Christopher) Barackman of Weedville, PA, Brian (Tricia) Betta of Latrobe, PA, and Gina (Scott) Berube of Huntingtown, MD, his five grandchildren Christopher (Samantha) Betta, Kaitlyn (Isaac) Prock, Caleb Barackman, Anna Berube, and Sarah Berube. In addition, he has two great grandsons, James and Beau Betta and a great granddaughter due in January. Also surviving is his sister Ann (Richard) Moorhouse of Lebanon, TN, sister-in law and brother-in-law Cathy and Ron Schneider as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Jack Pauline and two nieces in infancy.
Jim enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening and his camp on Winslow Hill, but most of all his family. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force, PA where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and on various committees.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and also on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, PA. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, Force, PA on Saturday, September 19 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery, Winslow Hill, Benezette, PA.
The Family suggests memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, Force, PA, Bennetts Valley Ambulance Association, Penfield, PA, or Penn Highlands Hospice, St. Marys, PA and will be accepting online condolences at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home website (www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com).
