Jason M. Straub, 49, of Center Street, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 18, 2025, in St. Marys.
He was born on December 31, 1975 in Ridgway, beloved son of Michael and Krystyna Sankowski Straub, who survive of St. Marys.
On June 9, 2006, he married Wendie Klaiber Straub, who survives. Together they shared nearly 20 years of love, laughter, and friendship.
A lifelong resident of St. Marys, Jason was a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, class of 1994 and then attended Penn State University. He dedicated nearly 30 years of service to Straub Brewery, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He looked forward to spending time at Straub's Bear Run, and loved being outdoors, especially taking some time to practice shooting. He enjoyed a good game of bowling or a round of golf, and never turned down the chance to go to a concert with his wife. A legend in the minds of those who knew and loved him, Jason was a gentle giant who relished in making others laugh. Armed with a witty sense of humor and a kind heart, he and Wendie opened their home to several foster children over the years, and was lovingly known to his children and their friends as "Swag Dad". He will be fondly remembered for being larger than life with his quick wit, warm smile, and the ability to brighten any bad day.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is survived by two children; Owen Straub and Isabella Straub, both of St. Marys; by three step-children; Dakota Kemmerer of Casper, WY, Kyle Auman of Casper, WY, and Ethan Auman of St. Marys. He was also affectionately known as "Papa" to his 2 grandchildren; Scarlett and Haisleigh, and was a brother to Rebecca (Casey) Benson of Petersburg, VA and uncle to Mia.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Thaddeus and Antonina Sankowski, and by his paternal grandparents; Jerome and Eunice "Peggy" Straub.
