Joseph L. Jones, Sr., 77, of Emporium, PA, passed away, peacefully with his family by his side, at Penn Highlands DuBois on Thursday afternoon (October 30, 2025).
He was born March 22, 1948, in Punxsutawney, PA, a son of the late Joseph Jones and Violet Aikens Jones Card. He married Beverly Guisto, who survives.
Joe was a 1967 graduate of Cameron County High School. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded both the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart for his bravery and service.
Following his military service, Joe worked for many years as a skilled tool and die maker with GKN, from which he later retired. He was a member of the Miller-Raffaele Post 6221 VFW, he was a longtime member of the Cameron County Memorial Detail, May Hollow Sportsman’s Club, Bucktail Rod & Gun Club, and the Christabelle Club in Emporium, as well as the American Legion Post 103, Eagles, and PFL Clubs in St. Marys. Joe enjoyed golfing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Beverly Guisto, he is survived by his son, Joseph L. Jones, Jr. (Amanda) of Emporium; four grandchildren: Reyn, Aiden, Kira, and Malcolm; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Jones; mother, Violet Aikens Jones Card; sister, Wendy Jones; and brother, Richard Jones.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the VFW, 427 East Third Street, Emporium, PA, on Saturday (November 8, 2025), from 3:00–5:00 PM followed by a military funeral to be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
Burial will be in the Rich Valley Cemetery, Emporium, PA.
