A very sad day for the city, in particular, for members of the St Marys City Police Department. in a social Media post the police announced that K9 Nando was compassionately put to rest on Friday at the age of 12, due to health issues.

It is with deep sadness that the City of St. Marys Police Department announces the passing of retired K9 Nando.
K9 Nando faithfully served the citizens of St. Marys from October 2016 until his retirement in December 2024. Throughout his career, Nando exemplified loyalty, courage, and unwavering dedication to protecting our community as he served alongside his handler.
Nando passed away at the age of 12. Though his watch has ended, his legacy of service and the bond he shared with those who knew him will never be forgotten.
Please join us in remembering K9 Nando and keeping his handler, fellow officers, and all who loved him in your thoughts during this difficult time.
We are grateful to those who honored him during his procession today.
