Lady Crusaders Defeat Brockway In D9 Playoffs

The Lady Crusaders played the Brockway Lady Rovers tonight in the semifinals of District 9 playoffs winning 2-1 in overtime.
The game was 0-0 at the half.
The Lady Rovers struck first, Mya Freemer scored with just 16:40 left in the game.
The Lady Crusaders rallied at the end of the game to tie it up. With just 2:49 left on the clock, Avery Stauffer shot on goal and Anna Lanzel was able to head in the rebound to tie the game up.
The scored remained 1-1 for the rest of regulation.
In overtime with about eight minutes left on the clock, Stauffer scored on a penalty kick to secure the win for the Lady Crusaders ensuring that they advance to the District 9 Championship game.
"Overall I thought the game was a great match up. It was back and forth for a while, with both teams having some great scoring opportunities."
"I have to give a lot of credit to the work ethic of this team. They have a never give up attitude and play with so much determination on the field. They played so hard once Brockway scored. The team was able to find another gear and a way to score."
"Avery Stauffer and Anna Lanzel came up big for us tonight. They really stepped up and were able to find the back of the net when we needed it most. Taking a penalty kick in playoffs is about as stressful as it gets but I thought Avery handled it super well."
"I'm just really proud of all of them. They played with so much grit tonight and it is nice to see all their hard work payoff."
The Lady Crusaders had 21 shots on goal and the Lady Rovers had 15.
Lillian Belsole was in the net for the Lady Crusaders, making 14 saves.
The Lady Crusaders will play Karns City for the District 9 Championship in Wednesday, October 29th at a time and place to be announced.
