Lady Crusaders Defeat Union-New Castle To Advance In Playoffs

Elk County Catholic got 18 points from Lena Polaski to beat visiting Union (New Castle), 40-31, in the opening round of the PIAA Class 1A girls’ playoffs.

Payton Newton added seven points in the win, while Anna Lanzel scored six.

ECC will face D6 fourth-place finisher Williamsburg in the second round on Wednesday at a site and time to be announced. Williamsport rolled past WPIAL champion Serra Catholic, 60-36.
