April Programs At Elk Country Visitors Center

Saturday, April 20th, 2pm All About Turkeys

With turkey season right around the corner, it’s just a matter of time until we hear the sound of gobbles echoing through the woods. Join Mercy from the Pennsylvania Game Commission to learn all about turkeys and their unique behaviors during this special time of year. Afterwards, we’ll have a craft for our young wilderness explorers.

Sunday, April 21st, 2pm Earth Day Celebration

Although Earth Day is tomorrow, that doesn’t mean the Elk Country Visitor Center isn’t going to find a way to celebrate our planet! Come join the Keystone Elk Country Alliance staff as we celebrate our home planet by decorating the sidewalks with drawings of our many different wildflowers. Seed packets containing wildflowers will also be given away to encourage the growth and habitat of our pollinators!

Saturday, April 27th, 2pm Arbor Day Celebration

Arbor Day is a wonderful holiday that everyone can celebrate no matter who you are or where you come from. Arbor day is the celebration of planting trees and continuing the preservation of our forests. Come join the Elk Country Visitor Center as we hand out a free tree to each family and learn about the many trees found in PA. We will also be showing 1972’s The Lorax in the Discovery room!
