Mary Elizabeth (Mary Beth) Fritz Zelt, 76, St. Marys

Mary Elizabeth (Mary Beth) Fritz Zelt, of 589 South St. Marys Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 17, 2025 after a lengthy illness.

She was born in St. Marys on September 6, 1948, daughter of the late Jerome J. and Ruth L. (Peg) Stimson Fritz. She attended Queen of the World School and graduated from Elk County Christian High School in 1966. On February 1, 1969, she married John R. Zelt at Queen of the World Church.

She is survived by her husband and daughter, Jean (Chicago, IL); sister, Carol A. Cook (St Louis, MO) and brother, Jerome T. Fritz (Ridgway, PA); and many in-laws, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident of St. Marys, Mary Beth graciously gave her time and love to family, friends, and community. She worked as an office manager at Glass Unlimited for many years and was active as a Girl Scout leader and SMAHS band parent. She was creative and energetic, a talented cook and gifted seamstress. She also spent many happy years doggedly tracing connections for her extended family tree and helping others in the process.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Queen of the World Church on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 11:00AM with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
