Long-time Pennsylvania homeowners could be in for tax relief under new proposed legislation.
Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-Adams/Franklin) said he intends to introduce a new bill that would exempt Pennsylvanians 75 and older from school, county and municipal property taxes if they live in a Pennsylvania home that they've owned for at least 10 consecutive years.
This exemption would also apply for a surviving spouse, regardless of age, if they continue to live in the same home, Mastriano said.
Mastriano named his legislation the Sam Worley Elderly Tax Relief Act in dedication to World War II veteran Sam Worley, who Mastriano said paid property taxes until he was 100 years old.
