Saturday, November 15th ~ 2pm Turkey Talk
Come and learn about the wild bird that Benjamin Franklin wanted to be our national symbol. Penn State Wildlife students will highlight the ecology and history of our favorite Thanksgiving Day bird.
Sunday, November 16th ~ 2pm Elk Walk & Talk
Join a staff member as we hike the trails around the Elk Country Visitor Center. Learn many interesting facts about the property and wildlife that often inhabit these fields. We will be covering topics such as what elk eat, where they spend their time, and how each season brings something different.
Saturday, November 22nd ~ 2pm PA Fish
Dive into Pennsylvania’s rich aquatic world and discover the state’s remarkable fish diversity. Learn the secrets to finding and ethically catching the most sought-after game fish. We will guide you through identifying magnificent species like the native Brook Trout and introduce you to some of the rare and fascinating aquatic treasures like the ancient Paddlefish that call Pennsylvania's 86,000 miles of waterways home.
Sunday, November 23rd ~ 2pm White-tailed Deer
Thousands of Pennsylvania hunters will be afield in search of this wary mammal on the opening day of the 2025 deer season! The white-tailed deer happens to be our state mammal and can found in all 67 counties. Learn about this fascinating animal in a fact-filled educational program!
Saturday, November 29th ~ 2pm PA State Symbols
Can you name all of our State Symbols? Pennsylvania has a variety of plants and animals that represent many important aspects of our state. Learn not only what all of our State Symbols are, but why they were selected and what makes them so interesting. Following the presentation try to locate some of our state symbols here at the Elk Country Visitor Center.
Sunday, November 30th ~ 2pm Elk Bingo!
Test your elk knowledge and observation skills with this fun twist on bingo. Instead of numbers, you'll mark off elk themed facts as you learn about their habitat, sounds, antlers, and more. Great for all ages, whether you are an elk expert or just meeting these magnificent animals
