Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) is partnering with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, the Wellsboro Police Department, Commonwealth University - Mansfield’s Public Training institute, and the Potter County Education Council, to deliver two no-cost seminars titled ‘Scams Against Seniors’. These courses will be held in Tioga County and Potter County this April. Registration can be completed online at https://bit.ly/NPRC-Senior-Scams.

The first course seminar will take place on Tuesday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Wellsboro Fireman's Annex, located at 21 East Ave in Wellsboro. The second seminar will be held the following day, April 22 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Potter County Education Council, located at 5 Water Street in Coudersport. The doors will open for each seminar at 8:30 a.m., with pre-registration strongly encouraged.

These seminars will offer a variety of tips and resources to give the attendees the tools necessary to make informed decisions to better protect themselves and their families from these devastating issues. The program will help seniors and concerned citizens become aware of the scams and frauds that are out there; learn how to avoid becoming the next victim; become more alert to their surroundings and situations they are facing; and encourage them to report any instances of scam or fraud to their local law enforcement.

The series of presenters, including guest speaker David P. Shallcross, Director of Senior Protection for the Pennsylvania State Attorney General’s Office, will discuss scams, fraud, cryptocurrency schemes, data mining, and artificial intelligence, and how it is used to enhance scams. Topics will include common scams and fraud schemes aimed at seniors, warning signs to look out for, effective strategies to safeguard your finances, and resources and support available for seniors. This presentation is a must-attend for anyone looking to enhance their knowledge of safeguarding their financial wellbeing and that of their loved ones.
