Pennsylvania Anglers To Get New Trout Size Rule, More Steelhead Access

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) plans to vote July 27 on a new minimum size for trout and acquiring public fishing access in three parts of a popular steelhead creek.

The board will consider increasing the size of a trout anglers can keep from 7 inches to 9 inches long. With the agency’s hatchery trout averaging about 11 inches, the change is designed to help protect wild trout across the state.

The existing size limit has been in place since 1983. If approved, the new size limit will go into effect Jan. 1.
