Results From All Fired Up And Kickin' Ash BBQ

Cameron County Chamber of Commerce All Fired Up Kickin Ash BBQ sponsored by Emporium Food Market packed the Emporium Town Square with competitors, music and vendors. The event Saturday September 26 marked the 9th time smokers rolled into te community selling lip smacking ribs, pulled pork, brisket and more.

“The weather was perfect and many of the competitors were sold out of items by 3 pm,” according to executive director Tina Solak. $800 in cash given to Smitty’s Eat n Shack from Emporium. Kevin Smith and his crew cooked bison which was the Mystery Meat to perfection. He also took home best ribs, wings, pulled pork and people’s choice. In addition Smith won the PA Wilds BBQ Circuit by less than one point over Jason Rittenhouse. Jason’s Smokin also took home best sauce.

Smoke em if you got em took home best sides for Jack Smoker’s mac n cheese. Bobby Nestor took home best turkey. 242 BBQ from Roulette won both best dessert and brisket.

This was the first year that two bands performed. Old Skool took the stage from 10-1 followed by Vinny and the Mudflaps. Vendors filled out the Emporium Town Square with Dempsey’s Homestead Sweets, Spolski Maple Syrup, and Fudgey Nuts providing food items, while Allegheny Mountain Chapter of Nam Knights sold adult beverages. The event also provided an opportunity for the Christabelle Club to sell football tickets.
