Rosalyn T. “Rosie” Schneider, 82, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born March 4, 1943, in St. Marys Pennsylvania, she lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and an unwavering devotion to those around her.
She was married to her beloved husband Howie for 38 years before his passing in 2002.
Rosie retired from St Mary’s Catholic Elementary School after 34 years where she served with dedication in many roles throughout her career. Her position as school librarian was a source of great pride. An avid reader, she was a passionate advocate for teaching the wonder to be found in books and was instrumental in introducing the Accelerated Reader program to the school.
Rosie was a deeply generous and compassionate woman whose love for her family, friends, and pets was limitless. She delighted in celebrating her children’s and grandchildren’s achievements and was a constant, enthusiastic presence on the sidelines of their many sporting events, never missing a moment that mattered to them. Some of her most treasured memories were the times spent with loved ones at the family camp on East Branch Lake. She also held dear the many years she spent playing mah jong with friends, a cherished tradition for more than 50 years.
Rosie’s faith and community were an important part of her life. She enjoyed attending daily Mass serving as Eucharist Minister. For many years, Rosie acted as caretaker for Decker’s Chapel in St Marys and helped to coordinate Wreaths Across America for the local cemetery. She was an active member of the Elk County Cursillo Movement and volunteered in many capacities in the area.
She is lovingly remembered by three children, Tracy McCarthy (Chris), Tim Schneider (Mary Jo) and Andy Schneider (Toni), her 6 grandchildren, Rachael (Ben), Jack, Meg, Maddy (Cory), Emily, Chad and 2 great-grandchildren, Trent and Jade. She also leaves behind her loving companion, Emil Zaunick, who brought her much joy and friendship in her later years. Her presence in their lives was a source of strength and warmth that will be deeply missed.
Rosie was preceded in death by her father, Earnest “Jack” Terry, mother, Loretta Benninger Terry, and her sister, Jacqueline Turner.
A force of love and care within her family, Rosie leaves behind a legacy of strength and love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing to those who loved her.
