Saturday, May 9th ~ 11-3pm Antlers VS Horns Walk Up


The age-old debate for the term of an elk’s headgear. Come learn the differences of antlers and horns and why they are often mistaken for one another. It will be a head scratcher!


Sunday, May 10th ~ 2pm Make & Take: Mother’s Day Flowers

Join us to celebrate Mother’s Day where you can choose, pot, and take a flower for your wonderful Mom. Thank You Moms Everywhere!


Saturday, May 16th ~ 10:30am-12pm Master Gardeners Plant & Forageables Walk

Come explore the plant life at your feet with the Elk County Master Gardeners at the Elk County Visitor Center. Learn about plants that can feed, support, and even heal us and the earth. This program is one of the three opportunities to learn about foraging in spring May 16th, summer August 1st, and fall October 3rd. Please join us for one or all three programs, starting at the Vista Pavilion, plus participants are invited to picnic on the Elk Country Visitor Center lawn after each program.


Sunday, May 17th ~ 10-2pm Disc Golf

Get ready for an exciting introduction to disc golf with one our educators! Try your skill on our short course and explore the many benefits of this rapidly growing sport. Also gain valuable insight on where to find other courses nearby. Come to the front desk to get started!


Saturday, May 23rd ~ 2pm Elk Through the Seasons

Local wildlife photographer and outdoor enthusiast Jeff Lipniskis takes you on a captivating journey through an entire year in the life of Pennsylvania’s most iconic animal. Through photography and immersive video, you’ll witness changes across the seasons—from the tender moments of spring calves, to summertime in open meadows, the drama of the autumn rut, and the quiet endurance of winter. This visual storytelling experience reveals not just the beauty of the elk, but the landscapes, cycles, and untold stories that shape their world.


Sunday, May 24th ~ 2pm Bobcats

Bobcats are one of Pennsylvania’s most elusive predators. Not many people can say they’ve seen a bobcat in the wild. Not only are they elusive but they are also PA’s last confirmed feline predator. If bobcats interest you, come learn all about them at the Elk Country Visitor Center.


Saturday, May 30th ~ 11-3pm Walk up to Elk Basics

New to learning about elk? Walk up for the basic breakdown as we learn about elk history, elk ecology and elk behavior. Are you a seasoned “Elkspert?” We bet you’ll learn something new too!


Sunday, May 31st ~ 2pm Cute Calves

Elk calving season is right around the corner. Come join us for an informative presentation on elk calves. In addition, learn about how the PGC monitors these little cuties.
