Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is proud to announce the first-ever Elk County Military Share Distribution which will take place on Wednesday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Food Bank, located at 817 South Michael Street, St. Marys, PA.

Military Share is a Produce Express program that is designed to provide fresh, nutritious foods for families with at least one member who has served or is currently serving in the armed forces. The program provides families with fresh, frozen, and pantry staples at no cost. This distribution will be Second Harvest’s first Military Share in Elk County.

The Elk County Military Share is a drive-thru distribution available to income-qualifying veterans (retired or currently serving) and their immediate family members residing in Elk County. Participants are asked to bring a valid military ID to the distribution. The distribution will be held on the fourth Wednesday of odd-numbered months going forward.

Those interested in participating in the March distribution are asked to pre-register by March 17th by calling Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania at (814) 459-3663 ext. 117.

“We are incredibly proud to launch the Elk County Military Share,” said Gregory D. Hall, Chief Executive Officer of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania. “Those who have served our country, and their families, have made tremendous sacrifices. This program is one small way we can give back by ensuring they have access to nutritious food. We are so grateful to have community partners who make it possible to serve those who served us.”

We are grateful for the support of the Doris E. Stackpole Foundation who helped make this distribution possible. With the launch of Military Share in Elk County, Second Harvest continues its commitment to serving those who have served our country — and working to end hunger in our community.
