Seeking Community Input To Help Reimagine Vacant Main Street Lot In Ridgway

ree

(From Ridgway Record Social Media Post) - The Rotary Club of Ridgway and a group of five professionals from the 2025-26 cohort of Leadership Elk-Cameron are seeking community feedback in an improvement project on Main Street in Ridgway. The two groups are working together to revitalize a vacant lot to enhance the town. The project is anticipated to be completed in 2027.

The space, located beside the Northwest Bank drive thru and diagonally across the street from the Borough of Ridgway, has been unutilized for several years. The organizations involved have been asked to initiate the project by surveying the community using a process like that used for prior town enhancements. This ensures changes within the community are done in a coordinated and complementary manner.

This is an unutilized space in the Ridgway community, and the groups are seeking input on if a community park and gathering space is implemented, what should be built, installed, or considered when this spot is revitalized. The property is not being considered to become a full parking lot. The Borough of Ridgway along with additional local organizations and businesses have pledged their support of this project, but feedback is needed before the next steps are made.

This feedback comes by way of a survey the groups are seeking responses on between now and January 1, 2026. With this feedback, the groups intend to work together with local designers to develop a lot that will be utilized and appreciated by many throughout the Ridgway community for years to come. The steps to follow after this are to fundraise, open bids for the construction of the lot, collect a list of volunteers to help with the creation of the lot, and to create a succession plan for the Leadership Elk-Cameron group that will help take over the project to complete it in the summer of 2027.

To submit feedback, concerned citizens can head to https://shorturl.at/bVJn4 to complete the five question survey and share their thoughts on what they’d enjoy seeing in this community space in the near future.
