On Tuesday, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) Hatcheries Director Brian Niewinski will join local and state leaders to tour a river restoration project at Bendigo State Park and stock trout ahead of the 2026 angling season.
River restoration work by DCNR, PFBC, and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy helped improve aquatic habitat, enhancing angling opportunities on the East Branch of the Clarion River. This portion of the river had previously been impaired because of acid mine drainage (AMD), agriculture, and runoff.
Pennsylvania's statewide Opening Day of Trout Season will be held on Saturday, April 4. PFBC plans to stock more than 3.2 million adult trout in 2026, with an additional 1.1 million being stocked by cooperative nurserie
