This year the Sinnemahone Canoe and Kayak Paddle will cut off registration Friday April 10. Organizers say everything is in place for the event Saturday which begins at 11am across from the Emporium Country Club. Tina Solak, executive director of the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce says the country club has graciously agreed to let the paddlers pick up goodie bags and bibs for the race at the club house starting at 7am. Emporium Rotary Club members will also be at the pickup point with hot beverages.
Registration fees remain the same, with each paddler receiving a backpack donated by Northern Pennsylvania Regional College. Inside participants will find a $10 chamber buck to be used following the event, and other items donated by Emporium Food Market.
For the first time in decades there is a theme to this year’s event. Retool Inc. has designed the awards to include an American Flag in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the nation. T-shirts that are purchased by competitors include the same logo.

The price is $45.00 for adults and $30.00 for children under the age of 18. Paper registration forms are available at the chamber office, or can be completed over the phone by calling the office at 814-486-4314. Online registration is available at https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Emporium/SinnemahonePaddle. There are several classes for kayaks and canoes including tandem kayaks.
Safety for the event is coordinated with Mountaineer Search & Rescue. Water rescue teams from across the region will be on the stream banks and fire police will direct traffic and parking at the start and finish. Water levels may force a change to the course. That decision will be made by April 10.
