The Rotary Club of Ridgway will host a ribbon cutting event on Thursday, October 29 at “The Hub at Main & Vine” at 3:00 p.m. This ribbon cutting is being held to celebrate and showcase the progress of the Borough of Ridgway property located at 135 Main Street spearheaded by the Ridgway Rotary in partnership with several local businesses and non-profit groups.

The event will include a short question and answer session; short talks by members of the Ridgway Rotary Club, and opportunities to learn more about how businesses, individuals, and groups have helped and can continue doing so in the future. The get-together is open to the public and will include light food and refreshments. Following the event, the Ridgway Business Trick or Treat will kick off at 4:00 p.m., with the Rotary Club continuing to offer treats for the public, while showing off the space.

The space, which had been home to small businesses such as Joe Mac’s and The Main Street Tavern, is now home to a pocket park, named “The Hub” for residents and travelers to enjoy. The space has been decorated with furniture constructed by students and teachers at the Ridgway Area High School; construction terracing and leveling completed by Bill Kinkead, landscaping and vegetation by the Ridgway Heritage Council and the Ridgway-Elk Chamber of Commerce; a mural completed in partnership with Elk County Council of the Arts and PA Made, and enhancements by Carl Marnatti, the 2025-2026 Leadership Elk-Cameron group, and the Ridgway Senior Center.

Further development of “The Hub” will be ongoing for a couple of years as use of the space is evaluated and future refinements are installed. To date, the project has been funded by the Ridgway Rotary, Ridgway Heritage Council, and generous donors.

Rotary Treasurer Bea Terbovich shared “The development of The Hub has been an exciting, collaborative effort between the Ridgway Rotary and numerous other local groups. Once the plan was approved by the Borough, excavation work by Bill Kinkead defined the space and laid the footprint for the park. Progress from that big initial step has been ongoing. It is Rotary’s hope that the public will both enjoy and respect this new gem on our Main Street.”
