Two Apartments Destroyed In Emporium Fire...Business Owner To Rebuild

Six people are displaced after a third-alarm fire destroyed two second floor apartments above Emporium Beverage along Hemlock Street in Emporium Borough Thursday evening.

Emporium Fire Department Chief Patrick Uber said crews were called to the scene at about 7:45 p.m. He said the blaze started in the apartment on the right side of building before spreading quickly to the apartment on the left.

Uber said both spaces were a total loss. He said the Emporium Beverage store on the first floor suffered smoke and water damage but was not considered a total loss. No injuries or explosions were reported.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the fire marshal. The American Red Cross, Cameron County Ambulance, and several neighboring fire departments responded to assist.

Store owner Scott McCann said Emporium Beverage had been planning a grand opening next Saturday after just opening in February this year. He said the business will be closed until further notice. See less
